Wesley College Names Geoff Goyne as Director of News and Sports Information 

DOVER, DE --Geoff Goyne has been named Director of News and Sports Information at Wesley College, according to Mike Drass, Executive Directors of Intercollegiate Sports and Recreation.   Goyne comes to Wesley after spending the past two years as the Assistant Sports Information Director at Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pennsylvania.

"We're delighted that Geoff is coming to Wesley," Drass said.  "He brings a broad background that includes news and information management, electronic media, and public design.  He has had experience as an athlete at the Division III level and has been a part of successful sports information programs involving the D-I, D-II and D-III. He'll be a welcome addition to our growing program."

Wesley competes in the NCAA Division III and is a member of the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) and Eastern Collegiate Athletics Conference (ECAC) in all sports except football.  The football Wolverines compete in the Atlantic Central Football Conference (ACFC).

While at Mercyhurst, he was primarily responsible for the sports of football, men's basketball, wrestling, cross country, baseball, rowing and women's water polo, but assisted in the coverage of all 25 NCAA Division II varsity sports.  Men's and women's ice hockey competes at the NCAA Division I level.

Prior to Mercyhurst, Goyne spent two years as a graduate assistant in the Sports Information Office at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, aiding in the coverage of all 21 of the university's Division II varsity sports. In 2001-02, Goyne served as an intern in the Sports Information Office at Division I Lehigh University.  He was responsible for nine Mountain Hawk teams, including nationally ranked men's soccer and wrestling programs.  He spent the summer of 2001 as a field operations intern with the Lynchburg Hillcats (Single A, Pittsburgh Pirates) of the Carolina League.

Goyne earned a bachelor's degree in sport management with concentrations in public relations and speech communication from York College of Pennsylvania. He was a two-sport athlete for the Spartans, competing in both cross country and track & field.
