13 CAC Men's And Women's Soccer Players Recognized By NSCAA

Salisbury senior forward Kate Weaver was named to the All-Region team and the Academic All-Region team as the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) recently honored 13 Capital Athletic Conference student-athletes for their efforts in the 2007 season.

Weaver and Hood senior defender Martin Carrick were named to their respective NSCAA regional scholar-athlete teams.  McCarrick was a third-team choice on the regional men's squad while Weaver was an honorable mention selection on the women's academic all-regional team.

Weaver was also one of 12 CAC soccer players -- eight men and four women -- named to their respective NSCAA all-region teams.  Salisbury senior defender Robyn Bishop was a first-team all-region pick while Weaver and Mary Washington senior defender Margaret Vaccaro were second-team all-region players and York junior defender Kali MacGregor earned third-team honors.

On the men's all-region team, three York players represented the CAC on the first team, including junior defender Evan Scheffey, sophomore midfielder Jon Ports and senior forward Andrew Wheeler.  Two other Spartan seniors were tabbed as third-team all-region honorees, including defender Matt Beale and forward Jason Mancuso.

Also earning all-region recognition were Mary Washington sophomore midfielder Ryan Taibl (second team) along with Salisbury sophomore midfielder Kyle Sterling (second team) and sophomore keeper Greg Wellinghoff (third team).
