Four CAC Teams Ranked In Preseason Lacrosse Polls

Salisbury is ranked No. 1 in the USILA poll and No. 2 in the IWLCA poll while the Villa Julie men and the Mary Washington women are both receiving votes in the first lacrosse rankings of the 2008 season.

The defending national champion Salisbury men's lacrosse team is, not surprisingly, the No. 1 team in the country in the U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (IWLCA) preseason poll.  The Sea Gulls captured its' seventh national championship in 2007 (fourth in the last five years).  Lacrosse magazine and Face-Off Yearbook also tabbed SU as the top team in the country.

The USILA poll also listed Villa Julie among the teams "also receiving votes" in the preseason poll.  The Mustangs won their first six games of the 2007 campaign and finished with an 11-5 overall record.

In the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) preseason poll, Salisbury was picked second nationally.  The Sea Gulls, who posted a 21-2 overall record and played in the 2007 national championship game, was also picked third in the Lacrosse magazine preseason poll.

Mary Washington was among the teams "also receiving votes" in the IWLCA poll.  The Eagles were 16-7 in 2007 and, like Salisbury, ended the season with an NCAA Tournament loss to national champion Franklin & Marshall.
