University of Mary Washington senior swimmer Justin Anderon (Oak Hill, Va./Oakton) and Salisbury University senior soccer midfielder Justin McGrath (Perry Hall, Md./Perry Hall) were selected by the Capital Athletic Conference athletic directors and sports information directors as the 2009-10 CAC Co-Male Scholar-Athletes of the Year.

It marks the second time in the last four years that the CAC announced co-winners of the Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year award. In 2007, Mary Washington's Justin Baker captured the award along with York's Chris Brower.

Anderson is the fourth Mary Washington student-athlete to win the CAC Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year since the inception of the award in 1992. Men's soccer standouts Erik Kochert (2002, track & field) and Dan Dupras (2003, basketball) and Baker (2008-09, basketball) were previous CAC Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year honorees from UMW.

McGrath is the second-straight Salisbury University student-athlete, and fourth overall, to win the CAC Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year . Men's soccer standouts Michael Giuffrida (1999, soccer), Dan Meehan (2004, soccer) and Eric Willey (2009, baseball) were previous CAC Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year winners from Salisbury.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, demonstrate athletic success and be a major contributor to his program.

Anderson is an English major with a 3.66 grade point average. He was a member of the UMW Dean's list six times during his career, a member of several national honor societies and was recently named the 20th winner of the University of Mary Washington Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

In the pool, Anderson was a 22-time All-CAC honoree during his career, including 12 conference championships, six second-place finishes and four third-place awards. His senior season, he contributed four titles, a second-place finish and a third-place finish as the Eagles won their 10th-straight team championship. A team captain in 2010, he was selected by his teammates as the 2010 "Most Valuable Teammate" award and the first "Eagle Award," presented to the swimmer that best embodies and demonstrates the 4 Pillars of the program.

McGrath is a biology major with a 3.874 grade point average. He is a five-time member of the Dean's List, a member of three national honor societies, selected as the Salisbury University Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year. He is also a four-time honoree of the prestigious Maryland House of Delegates as well as Senatorial Scholarships.

On the soccer pitch, McGrath is a three-time All-CAC defender. He keyed the Sea Gulls' run to the 2008 CAC playoff title and 2009 regular-season crown. During his senior season, McGrath helped the Salisbury defense compile a 0.58 goals against average.
