Six Capital Athletic Conference student athletes, including four women and two men representing four institutions, were named to the 2010 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District At-Large teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

First-team All-District recognition was awarded to Salisbury seniors Jessica Chmielewski and Lauren Correll.  Chmielewski is a standout on the Gulls' women's lacrosse team, which will play in the national semifinals at Gettysburg Saturday (5/22), while Correll is an all-star on the national championship field hockey squad.

First-team All-District honorees advance to the national ballot for a chance to earn ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America recognition.

Second-team All-District honors went to Gallaudet junior men's swimmer Kyle Dacus and Hood men's tennis standout Carter Reitman.

Hood senior field hockey and women's lacrosse standout Brandy Noel and Mary Washington women's lacrosse sophomore Ellen Bikowski were selected for the All-District third team.

To qualify for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore, boast a 3.30 or better grade point average and be a starter or significant reserve on their team.

Five of the CAC honorees were named to the District II teams, representing all NCAA Division II, Division III and NAIA programs in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.  District III teams include student-athletes from Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida.

CoSIDA's at-large program includes all student-athletes competing in swimming, field hockey, lacrosse, golf, water polo, gymnastics, tennis, women's rowing, wrestling, rifle, ice hockey and skiing.
