Three CAC women student-athletes, including Frostburg State's Maggie Edwards, Marymount's Anna Macedonia and Wesley's Tristin Burris, were named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District At-Large team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Edwards is an All-CAC field hockey goalie for the Bobcats.  Macedonia is the two-time CAC Women's Swimming Athlete of the Year.  Burris is also an All-CAC field hockey team and distance runner for Wesley College.

All three are now eligible for the Capital One Academic All-America team.  To view the All-District team, click here.

To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, the student-athlete must be a key starter or reserve and maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point-average.

The women's sports that make up the Academic At-Large program are: Bowling, Crew, Fencing, Field Hockey, Golf, Gymnastics, Ice Hockey, Lacrosse, Rifle, Skiing, Swimming, Tennis and Water Polo.

Macedonia posted a 3.84 grade-point average with an art education major during her tenure with the Saints.  A two-time NCAA Honorable Mention All-American, she also earned back-to-back Capital Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Year accolades as a junior and senior.

Individually in 2012, Macedonia won the 50 freestyle to set a CAC Championship mark and earn an NCAA provisional ‘B’ time, won the 100 backstroke to break the league record and post an automatic NCAA ‘A’ time and won the 100 freestyle to break her third CAC Championship meet record an earn another NCAA ‘B’ time. She also teamed to win both the 200 and 400 freestyle relays, both of them program records. Macedonia led off the 200 medley relay team that finished third overall and posted a Marymount record with a time.

At nationals, Macedonia garnered Honorable Mention All-America honors with a 14th place finish in the 100 backstroke. She also finished 27th in the 100 freestyle and 29th in the 50 freestyle.

Burris, a junior from Camden, Del., has maintained a 3.96 grade-point average in Media Arts while standing out at lacrosse, field hockey, cross country and track & field.  She also played softball at Wesley as a freshman.

In the Fall, she started in all 22 field hockey contests and tallied four goals, one of which was the game-winner, and two assists for ten points.  Burris also started in all 17 women's lacrosse games this Spring and tallied five goals and an assist for six points.  She also was credited with 29 draw controls, 28 ground balls and ten caused turnovers.
