Frostburg State junior field hockey goalie Maggie Edwards and Marymount senior honorable mention All-American swimmer Anna Macedonia were named to the 2012 Capital One Women's At-Large Academic All-America team.  Both were third-team honorees on the national squad.

To be eligible for Capital One Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a starter of key reserve, maintain a 3.30 cumulative grade point average and have reached sophomore athletic and academic status at his/her current institution.

The Capital One Academic All-America Women's At-Large program includes the sports of bowling, crew, fencing, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis and water polo.

Edwards is the seventh Academic All-America for the Frostburg State athletic department, but is the first for the Bobcat field hockey program.  Macedonia is the first student-athlete in MU history to be honored by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

They raise the CAC's total to five Capital One Academic All-Americans during the 2011-12 academic year.  Stevenson women's soccer scoring leader Stephanie Eyler and Wesley volleyball standout Carle Ax were previous honorees during the fall sports season while FSU sophomore softball first baseman Caitlyn Lovend was picked earlier this spring.

Edwards has emerged as one of the nation's elite goalkeepers. She led the country and the Capital Athletic Conference with 294 saves in 2011 and she finished second among all NCAA Division III keepers in saves per game (14.60).  A 2011 Second Team All-CAC honoree, Edwards made 20 or more saves in five games last fall, including a school record 33 in a loss to Drew University.  Edwards, who led the CAC in saves and finished inside the top 10 in the country in saves as a sophomore in 2010, is the nation's career saves leader among active NCAA Division III players with 697.  In the classroom, Edwards boasts a perfect 4.0 grade point average in psychology and has been named to the Dean's List every semester she has attended FSU. Edwards was named to the 2011 CAC All-Academic team and was also selected to the 2011 Gladiator by SGI/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) collegiate national academic squad in April.

Macedonia posted a 3.84 grade-point average with an art education major during her tenure with the Saints. A two-time NCAA Honorable Mention All-American, she also earned back-to-back Capital Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Year accolades as a junior and senior. 
Individually in 2012, Macedonia won the 50 freestyle to set a CAC Championship mark and earn an NCAA provisional ‘B’ time, won the 100 backstroke to break the league record and post an automatic NCAA ‘A’ time and won the 100 freestyle to break her third CAC Championship meet record an earn another NCAA ‘B’ time. She also teamed to win both the 200 and 400 freestyle relays, both of them program records. Macedonia led off the 200 medley relay team that finished third overall and posted a Marymount record with a time.  At nationals, Macedonia garnered Honorable Mention All-America honors with a 14th place finish in the 100 backstroke. She also finished 27th in the 100 freestyle and 29th in the 50 freestyle.
