Marymount (Va.) University President Dr. Matthew D. Shank announced Wednesday that Jamie Reynolds has been named the Director of Athletics. Reynolds served as the interim since January.

“Jamie has done an outstanding job as coach, senior women’s administrator, advancement officer and most recently, interim AD,” Dr. Shank said. “I am extremely confident in her leadership and know that she will bring great enthusiasm, energy and vision to the position.”

Reynolds has been a member of Saints’ athletics since her lacrosse playing days as an undergraduate from 2000-03. Despite playing just three years with the Saints, Reynolds is 10th all-time in program history in points (113), 11th in goals (77) and 10th in assists (36). She was tabbed Second Team All-CAC as a senior in 2003 while captaining MU to its best record in program history and its first win in the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament. Reynolds also played for the Marymount basketball team for one season.

She graduated from MU in 2003, cum laude, with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, before traveling to Pennsylvania for two years to earn a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh. Following the two-year hiatus as a Panther, Reynolds returned to Marymount as an assistant lacrosse coach before taking over the helm for eight seasons.

While coaching, she also maintained her status as Senior Woman Administrator, a position held since 2011. She stepped down from coaching at the end of the 2014 campaign, when she was named Associate Athletic Director for Advancement for the department.

As the interim director, Reynolds provided administrative direction and oversight for all staff, programs, facilities, and activities. This included ensuring compliance with all state, federal, NCAA and university regulations, collaborating with various departments across campus, overseeing the budget and resources to support athletics, supporting recruitment, retention and well-being of student-athletes, and collaborating with the Office of Advancement on fundraising, community building and communication.

Beyond those previous roles, she also serves as a Marymount Hall of Fame Committee member, Saints Club board member and CAC board member.

“I have been overwhelmed by the support of the campus community and our alumni since the campus announcement,” Reynolds said. “It makes me even more proud to be a Saint and excited to continue serving the University in a greater capacity. Once a Saint, Always a Saint!”
