SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University Athletics Hall of Fame will add four new members in 2017 when the latest class is inducted on Homecoming Weekend. This year's class for the hall of fame will feature Jason Ewing (baseball), Lacey (Lister) Lord (softball), Michael Steinen (men's soccer), and Byron Westbrook (football).

The Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is one of the many highlights of Homecoming Weekend and will be held on Friday, October 6 beginning at 6 p.m., in the Assembly Hall of the Guerrieri Academic Commons.

Ewing (class of 2003 and 2005) was one of the most prolific offensive players in the history of the baseball program, still standing in the top 10 in numerous statistical categories 15 years after the completion of his playing career. Ewing remains atop the program list in career slugging percentage, while second in triples and total bases. Ewing earned a pair of first-team all-region honors, along with being a four-time All-Capital Athletic Conference first-team pick in his career. He led the Sea Gulls to three NCAA tournament appearances, including the program's first World Series trip in 2001.

Lord (class of 2006) was one of the most decorated players in school history, earning All-American honors in all four years with the softball program. Lord was named to the All-CAC First Team all four years as a starting pitcher, being named the Rookie of the Year in 2003 and the league's Player of the Year in her final three seasons in maroon and gold. She continues to lead the program in pitching victories and strikeouts in a career and is ninth in NCAA Division III history in career wins and her 1,096 career strikeouts are 11th in Division III history.

Steinen (class of 2001) was part of the one of the top defenses in the history of the men's soccer program, as a member of the teams which have the two lowest goals-against averages in school history. In 2002, Steinen's final year of athletic eligibility while enrolled in graduate courses, the Sea Gulls surrendered just 0.36 goals per game, and in 1999 the team allowed just 0.42 goals per contest. The 1999 season marked one of the deepest tournament runs in team history, as the Sea Gulls advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals. Steinen was honored in his career as a two-time first-team All-CAC selection and was named a first-team All-American in 2002.

Westbrook (class of 2006) was one of the top defensive backs and kick returners for the football program in his four years, being named an all-conference performer three times and an All-American during his senior year. Westbrook is one of just 16 American Football Coaches Association All-Americans in program history and claimed D3football.com All-American honors following the 2006 season. He stands atop the program record book with 18 career interceptions and still has the most career kick return yards in program history. Following his collegiate career, Westbrook played three seasons in the NFL with the Washington Redskins.
