CAC Offers Assistant to the Commissioner/Director of Championships Internship

The Capital Athletic Conference is accepting applications for the position of Assistant to the Commissioner/Director of Championships. This full-time, two-year position is funded primarily through the NCAA Division III Ethnic Minorities & Women's Internship Grant, and offers the candidate the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of collegiate athletic administration at the conference level. The Assistant to the Commissioner/Director of Championships will work with the Commissioner and the Assistant Commissioner in all aspects of the Capital Athletic Conference office. The desired start date is August 2018.

Responsibilities: The Assistant to the Commissioner/Director of Championships will be involved in the conference’s day-to-day operations, including the setup and management of conference championships; creating and managing social media campaigns directed at championship events; oversight of conference SAAC summit and meetings; assisting with the administration of the NCAA DIII Strategic Initiatives Grant funds; assisting with expanding diversity & inclusion initiatives throughout the conference; assisting with conference and NCAA compliance issues; gaining a working knowledge of the financial protocols and budgeting process of the conference office.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Applicants should have a desire to enter college athletics administration. The successful candidate will possess strong writing, communication, organizational, multitasking and interpersonal skills, and a working knowledge of intercollegiate athletics and the Division III philosophy. Travel and some night and weekend work required.

Salary: $27,660 per year. Funding for professional development opportunities will be an additional $3,000.00 per year. The intern will be reimbursed for all travel expenses associated with conducting conference business, including mileage (at Federal rate), meals and lodging.
