Nine CAC Schools Ranked in Final Learfield Directors' Cup Standings; Christopher Newport Finishes 15th

Christopher Newport, which recently swept the Capital Athletic Conference Commissioner’s Cup awards for the second straight season, finished 15th in the final 2017-18 Learfield Division III Directors Cup standings, announced Thursday, to headline the nine CAC institutions ranked in the final standings. 

The Captains totaled 651 points to place 15th, while Salisbury placed 51st (348 points), York finished 60th (313 points), and Mary Washington took 77th place (252.5 points). 

Wesley (166th/109.75 pts), Frostburg State (227th/70 pts), Marymount (243rd/50 pts), Penn State Harrisburg (269th/39 pts) and Southern Virginia (278th/27 pts) also earned points in the final Learfield standings. 

The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today.  Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 18 sports during NCAA Div. III Championships - nine men's and nine women's sports.

NCAA Division III includes approximately 450 member institutions in 43 conferences.  A total of 329 Division III institutions scored Learfield Directors' Cup points this year.
