CAC Players of the Week - Oct. 16

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. --- CAC cross country teams competed in their final tune-ups prior to the CAC Championship, which is set for Oct. 27 at Southern Virginia. The final cross country week honors of 2018 were awarded to Jeff Gibson of Mary Washington men's cross country and Ashley Mazer of Salisbury women's cross country.

Oct. 8 - 14

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

Jeff Gibson | Mary Washington | Jr. 

Alexandria, Va. | Thomas Edison

Gibson led Mary Washington at the Rowan Border Battle on Saturday, finishing in fifth place overall with a time of 25:11. He averaged a 5:04 mile pace throughout the 8k race. Gibson was the top UMW runner in the field of 394 runners from 42 schools. The Eagles finished in 20th place in the team standings.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

Ashley Mazer | Salisbury | Jr. 

Ellicott City, Md. | Centennial

Mazer earned the individual championship at the Hood Invitational as the top runner among 105 competitors on Saturday. Mazer finished the run in 23:14, edging second-place Kara Taylor from St. Mary's by four seconds. Mazer has now placed in the top five in three events this season, but this was her first win.
