FIELD HOCKEY - DEFENSIVE POTW

Olivia Davis | Christopher Newport | Jr. | GK

Ashburn, Va. | Briar Woods

Davis registered a pair of victories while limiting the opposition to just a single goal over 125 minutes of work during the week. On Saturday against Concordia, she made five saves during a spotless 35 minutes before exiting at halftime with a comfortable 8-0 lead. Eventually, the Captains finished off the shutout, marking the first time Concordia was blanked in 2018. On Sunday, Davis returned to the field for her finest performance of the year in a key CAC bout at Mary Washington. After the Eagles scored in the 18th minute, Davis held UMW scoreless for the next 72 minutes, including a pair of overtime sessions. She eventually contributed six saves, including four in overtime. Still deadlocked at 1-1, she came back and withstood all four of Mary Washington's shootout attempts to secure the 2-1 win. With that effort, she became the first goalkeeper in program history to post a scoreless performance in a shootout session.
