CAC Players of the Week - Oct. 22
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. --- This marks the final week of the CAC regular season, with conference tournament play opening next weekend in field hockey, men's soccer, and women's soccer. Be sure to check back to cacsports.com throughout the week for updated results and tournament brackets.
This week's CAC weekly honors were awarded to Greta Plappert of York field hockey, Shelby Press of Mary Washington field hockey, Brad Moore of St. Mary's men's soccer, Brett Basham of Frostburg State men's soccer, Riley Cook and Haley Eiser of Christopher Newport women's soccer, and Peyton Dunow of Mary Washington volleyball.

Oct. 15 - 21
FIELD HOCKEY - OFFENSIVE POTW
Greta Plappert | York | Jr. | F
York, Pa. | Central York
Plappert tallied five goals in a high-scoring 1-1 week for the Spartans. She began the week with two goals in a 4-3 loss to No. 8 Salisbury. Trailing 3-0 at the half, Plappert notched the first two scores of the second half to pull the Spartans within striking distance. Against Mary Washington later in the week, she registered a hat trick in a hard-fought 4-3 victory. For the season, Plappert has 31 points on 13 goals and five assists. She has two game-winning goals and is 3-for-3 in penalty strokes for the year.

FIELD HOCKEY - DEFENSIVE POTW
Shelby Press | Mary Washington | Sr. | D
Alexandria, Va. | Hayfield
Press has emerged as a top defender for Mary Washington of late, and continued her outstanding play with four defensive saves in the Eagles' three games last week. She had two defensive saves in a 3-1 win over Rhodes, one defensive save in a 3-1 win over Frostburg State, and another in a 4-3 loss to York.

MEN'S SOCCER - OFFENSIVE POTW

Crofton, Md. | South River
Moore paced St. Mary's offensively in a 2-0 week with three goals and one assist. Moore started the week with a goal and an assist in a 3-0 shutout of York before notching career-bests of two goals, including his third career game-winner, and four points in a 4-1 win over Penn State Harrisburg. For the Seahawks, he is tied for third with seven goals and fourth with 15 points.

Basham helped Frostburg State to a pair of CAC shutouts last week. He and the Bobcats' defense surrendered just eight shots on goal in 180 minutes of action. He also scored the only goal in a 1-0 shutout win over York.

Cook collected her third consecutive Offensive Player of the Week award with four goals, including her second hat trick of the season, in a 2-0 week for the Captains. She scored the second goal in a 2-0 home win against Salisbury, and then helped CNU break a tie for first place and clinch the CAC regular season title for the sixth-straight year with three goals at Mary Washington. One of those three held up as the game-winner, marking her seventh of the season and 12th career game-winning goal. She ran her scoring streak to eight-straight games, tied for third-best in program history. Cook leads the CAC in points (38) and goals (16) this fall.

Eiser totaled nine saves and allowed just one goal in 135 minutes of action between the pipes last week for CNU. She opened the week with a complete-game shutout with five saves against Salisbury. She then tallied four saves in the first 45 minutes against Mary Washington to earn the win against the Eagles. Eisder is now 10-1-0 in goal for the Captains with four solo and two combined shutouts.

VOLLEYBALL
Peyton Dunow | Mary Washington | Jr. | OH/RS
Woodbridge, Va. | Forest Park
Dunow was one of several UMW players that stepped up large this week, as the Eagles defeated three teams ranked in the regional rankings, and two in the top 25. For the week, she recorded 2.92 kills per game with a .298 hitting percentage, and added eight digs and four total blocks. She posted 11 kills, three digs and three blocks in a 3-1 win over No. 25 Johns Hopkins on Saturday in head coach Matt Troy's 200th career win, and followed with a nearly flawless performance on Sunday in a 3-0 win over regionally-ranked Eastern. She posted 18 kills in 21 attempts with no errors for an .810 hitting average, and added a pair of aces and four digs. She was named to the all-tournament team at Juniata.
