CAC Players of the Week - Oct. 2
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. --- Last week's action featured a bevy of strong cross country performances as well as several CAC men's tennis squads competing at the ITA Regional Championships. Conference honors were awarded to Conner Masteran of Salisbury men's cross country, Ashley Mazer of Salisbury women's cross country, and Matt Miles of Mary Washington men's tennis.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Conner Masteran | Salisbury | Sr.

Masteran placed second at the Don Cathcart Invitational on Saturday with a time of 25:12. Masteran's final push down the stretch was just held off by race winner Langston Gash from Stevenson, who was less than a second and a half ahead of the Salisbury senior at the line. Masteran improved his time at the Winter Place Park course by 36 seconds. The run was the fastest time by a Sea Gull on their home course since 2011.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Ashley Mazer | Salisbury | Jr.
Ellicott City, Md. | Centennial
Mazer was Salisbury's top finisher as the Sea Gulls won the Don Cathcart Invitational on Saturday by nearly 40 points. Mazer placed fifth in the race, and was the third-fastest Division III runner in the field, completing the course in 23:02. It marks the second meet victory for the Sea Gulls. Mazer's time was more than 30 seconds faster than her first run on the Winter Place Park course in the team's season-opening meet, the Salisbury University Fall Classic.

MEN'S TENNIS

Miles led Mary Washington at the ITA South/Southeast Regional, advancing to the quarterfinals in both singles and doubles with partner Moses Hutchison. In singles, Miles defeated Catholic's Frankie Fortunati in the first round, 6-0, 6-1, and then Clark Safran of Carnegie Mellon, 6-3, 3-6, 6-0, in the second round. He then topped Jiung Jung of Swarthmore, 6-1, 6-2, in the round of 16 before falling to Chaz Downing of Carnegie Mellon, 6-4, 6-4. In doubles, Miles and Hutchison downed John Rudden and Noah Tapp of Washington & Lee, 8-3, before falling in the round of 16, 8-7 (2) to Austin Gu and Joseph Cartledge of Johns Hopkins.
