CAC Players of the Week - Sept. 10
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. --- Week two of the fall 2018 season is now in the books with numerous strong performances from CAC student-athletes and several rainouts and postponements over the weekend throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Weekly honors were awarded to Courtney Fiest of Christopher Newport field hockey, Jennifer Morrissette of York field hockey, Justin Carey of Mary Washington men's soccer, Patrick Paolini of St. Mary's men's soccer, Riley Cook of Christopher Newport women's soccer, Lauren Hall of St. Mary's women's soccer, and Biamba Tshitenge of Frostburg State volleyball.

Fiest continued her strong start to the 2018 campaign with three more goals during a pair of victories last week. On Friday, she kicked things off with the opening strike in a 2-1 triumph over Vassar. Two days later, she came back with her second multi-goal effort of the year after scoring the first and last goals in a 3-0 shutout against Virginia Wesleyan. Her first strike against the Marlins went as the game-winner. Coupled with her two-goal effort against Bridgewater, Fiest is just the fourth Captain in program history to record at least one goal in each of the first three games of a season. Her five goals also equal the most ever scored by a Captain in the first three games of a year.

FIELD HOCKEY - DEFENSIVE POTW
Jennifer Morrissette | York | Sr. | D

Morrissette spearheaded a shutout defensive effort for the Spartans and registered four defensive saves in a tight loss last week. Morrissette and the Spartan defense opened the week by holding Dickinson scoreless in a 2-0 victory on Wednesday. In Saturday's 2-1 loss to Shenandoah, she recorded a school-record four defensive saves against the Hornets. Those four defensive saves also moved her into first place in the York career record book with 21, passing former Spartan defensive standout Kari Moyer (1996-99) for the school record.

MEN'S SOCCER - OFFENSIVE POTW

Carey found the back of the net three times in a 3-0 week for the Eagles, including the overtime game-winner against a nationally-ranked foe. He opened the week with an unassisted tally in the sixth minute of a 4-0 win over Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday, giving the Eagles an early 2-0 edge. On Saturday, Carey scored twice, including the game-winner in overtime, as UMW topped No. 13 Johns Hopkins 2-1.

MEN'S SOCCER - DEFENSIVE POTW
Patrick Paolini | St. Mary's | Jr. | GK
Gaithersburg, Md. | Quince Orchard
Paolini posted 14 saves and two shutouts in 180 minutes of work between the pipes last week. He notched a career-best nine stops in a 2-0 shutout win over Bridgewater (Va.), and tallied five stops in a 3-0 shutout victory against Washington College. Paolini ranks second in CAC in save percentage (.938) and GAA (0.36) this season.

WOMEN'S SOCCER - OFFENSIVE POTW

Mechanicsville, Va. | Atlee
Cook registered one goal and one assist in the Captains' victory against Dickinson on Wednesday. She knocked in a penalty kick attempt in the 66th minute to seal a 3-1 win for the Captains as they improved to 3-0-0 on the season. Cook also assisted on the first goal of the match to give CNU a 1-0 lead.

WOMEN'S SOCCER - DEFENSIVE POTW

Perry Hall, Md. | Perry Hall
Hall was part of a St. Mary's defensive unit which posted three shutouts and allowed only 29 shots (14 on goal) over three games. Hall also contributed offensively as she converted her first career penalty kick for her second career goal in the 1-0 road win over Stevenson.

Germantown, Md. | Northwest
Tshitenge averaged 3.44 kills per set while hitting at a .340 clip in a 3-2 week for the Bobcats. She recorded at least eight kills and two blocks in each match, averaging 0.89 blocks per set throughout the week. She contributed 4.2 points per set for the Bobcats while also adding eight digs and three service aces.
