CAC Players of the Week - Sept. 5

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. --- Fall sports are now underway with cross country competing in its first races of the fall this past weekend. Weekly honors were awarded to (pictured, left-to-right) Mike Myers from Southern Virginia men's cross country and Monica Lannen from Christopher Newport women's cross country.

CAC Players of the Week

Aug. 31 - Sept. 2

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

Mike Myers | Southern Virginia | Jr. 

Medford, Ore. | South Medford

Myers opened the year by winning on the XC opener at Mary Washington with a time of 15:20, defeating the second-place finisher by more than four seconds. He improved his time at the same race last year by 1:16.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY

Monica Lannen | Christopher Newport | Jr. 

Reston, Va. | South Lakes

Lannen kicked off the 2018 season with a victory in the 4k during the Mary Washington Opener on Friday. During the race, she posted a time of 15:11.6, which topped the next closest competitor by over 15 seconds. Guided by those efforts, Christopher Newport eventually secured the team title with a score of 28.
