Freeman Center



The Freeman Center is home to Christopher Newport University's volleyball, men's and women's basketball and indoor track and field programs.  Opened in 2000, the Freeman Center can seat up to 2,500 fans for basketball and volleyball contests and plays hosts to thousands of collegiate and high school track and field athletes annually.

Directions to the Freeman Center:

From Chesapeake, Suffolk and Portsmouth
Follow routes to the Monitor-Merrimack Bridge Tunnel (I-664). Cross the tunnel into Newport News and take Exit 5 to 35th Street and Warwick Blvd. (Route 60 West). After about five miles on Warwick Blvd. (Route 60) you will cross J. Clyde Morris Blvd. just after driving through a large park. At the third light past J. Clyde Morris, University Place, go left. The Freeman Center is on your left as you enter the campus.

From Norfolk and Virginia Beach
Take I-64 West across the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel. About 10 miles west of the tunnel take Exit 258B (Route 17 South, J. Clyde Morris Blvd.). Continue on J. Clyde Morris Blvd. to the entrance to the Warwick Blvd. (Route 60). Go right and follow the directions in last paragraph of directions from Chesapeake.

From Richmond and Northern Virginia
Take I-64 East. Exit at Exit 258 A (Route 17 South, J. Clyde Morris Blvd). Continue on J. Clyde Morris Blvd. to the entrance to Warwick Blvd. (Route 60). Go right and follow the directions in last paragraph of directions from Chesapeake.

From Northwestern Virginia
Travel to I-95 South and head South around Richmond on I-295 until it meets I-64. Then take I 64 East. Exit at Exit 258 A (Route 17 South, J. Clyde Morris Blvd). Continue on J. Clyde Morris Blvd. to Warwick Blvd. (Route 60). Go right and follow the directions in last paragraph of directions from Chesapeake.

From Western Virginia
Depending upon your location travel on I-81 North until it meets I-64 East and then follow I-64 around Richmond (you may elect to take the by-pass I-295 in case of heavy traffic in downtown Richmond). Then take I 64 East. Exit at Exit 258 A (Route 17 South, J. Clyde Morris Blvd). Continue on J. Clyde Morris Blvd. to Warwick Blvd. (Route 60). Go right and follow the directions in last paragraph of directions from Chesapeake.

If you are closer to U.S. 58, take it East until it meets I-664 heading toward the Monitor Merrimack Bridge Tunnel. Cross the tunnel into Newport News and take Exit 5 to 35th Street and Warwick Blvd. (Route 60 West). Then follow last two paragraphs of directions from Chesapeake
