Salisbury sophomore OF ANDREW MILLER (Schwenksville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) was named the CAC Baseball Player of the Week after batting .500 last week (6-for-12), including three home runs against Johns Hopkins. Miller was a grand slam shy of hitting the home run cycle against the Blue Jays. He scored five runs and drove in six RBIs in the two games and added two stolen bases, extending his success to 30-straight steals dating back to last season. Miller ranks in the top five among all base stealers in the NCAA from all divisions for consecutive swipes.

Mary Washington Sr. RHP ANDREW COX (Orlando, Fla./Trinity) was named the CAC Baseball Player of the Week after throwing a four-hit, complete-game shutout against North Carolina Wesley, which recently won the USA South Conference title. Cox walked one and struck out five in the 3-0 victory. He started the week by being named the UMW Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year co-winner with track & field All-American Justin German.

York freshman 2B/DH DUSTIN WORTHMAN (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) was named the CAC Baseball Player of the Week after hitting .714 (15-for-21) with a double, five runs scored, four RBI and six stolen bases as the Spartans won four of five games and clinched the No. 2 seed in the CAC playoffs. He had three hits in each game of a doubleheader at Stevenson, then banged out four hits in a mid-week victory over Mary Washington. In Saturday’s DH sweep vs. UMW, Worthman ripped five hits.

Mary Washington junior SS SEAMUS BERGEN (Fredericksburg, Va./Chancellor) and York sophomore 2B/P KYLE COOK (Pylesville, Md./North Harford) were named the CAC Baseball Co-Players of the Week after hitting at least .500 and leading their teams to wins in crucial CAC three-game series last week. Bergen went 7-for-12 (.583) with three doubles and 10 runs produced as UMW took two of three games vs. second-place Stevenson. Bergen crossed the plate six times and knocked in four more for the Eagles. Cook, who gained CAC weekly honors for the second time in the last four weeks, hit .625 in four games last week, including a 6-for-12 performance in helping the Spartans win two of three vs. fourth-place Wesley. In addition to going 4-for-4 twice, he scored six runs, drove in another and stole a base.

Salisbury senior infielder CODY COLLINS (Millsboro, Del./Delmar) was named the CAC Baseball Player of the Week after batting .444 (8-for-14), knocking in seven runs, scoring nine runs and leading the Sea Gulls, who are ranked ranked #2 by D3baseball.com and #19 by the ABCA, to four wins in five games against CAC rivals. Among his eight safeties were two homers and two doubles, leading to an .889 slugging percentage, and he stole a base. His best performance of the week was in Sunday’s doubleheader sweep against nationally-ranked York, where he was 5-for-9 with seven runs scored and seven RBI.

Wesley sophomore 2B KEVIN MURPHY (Middletown, Md./Middletown) and York sophomore 1B C.T. STANLEY (Timonium, Md./Calvert Hall College) were named the CAC Baseball Co-Players of the Week after leading their teams last week. Murphy hit .400 with five runs, 10 RBI and provided several key game-winning hits for Wesley, which moved up to fourth place in the CAC. His three-run homer in the 14th inning helped WC top Haverford. He followed that with four hits and five RBI as the Wolverines handed Stevenson its first CAC loss of the season. Murphy also started a five-run rally in the sixth inning with an RBI hit as the Wolverines secured a split in the CAC DH vs. Stevenson with a 5-3 win. Stanley led York to a 5-0 week, including a three-game sweep vs. St. Mary’s, by hitting .462 with six runs scored, and seven RBI and two homers. He drew four walks and was hit by a pitch three times in compiling a .650 on-base percentage and a .923 slugging percentage. In Friday’s win over SMC, Stanley jacked his team-leading fifth homer of the season.

York sophomore relief pitcher/infielder KYLE COOK (Pylesville, Md./North Harford) was named the CAC Baseball Player of the Week after contributing a .500 batting average and two saves in two YCP wins last week. Cook started the week with a two-inning save against Messiah, allowing an unearned run on one hit while fanning three. Two days later, Cook threw the final two scoreless innings against top-ranked Salisbury, allowing one hit while fanning one for his third save of the season. He also went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored against the Sea Gulls, raising his weekly totals to 4-for-8 at the plate with two runs and an RBI.

Stevenson senior P/1B WADE KEENAN (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) and York senior CF RYAN POFF (York, Pa./Spring Grove) were named the CAC Baseball Co-Players of the Week after leading their respective teams to 6-0 records last week. Keenan threw a two-hit complete-game shutout in Game 1 of Saturday’s CAC twinbill against St. Mary’s. Keenan fanned seven in a 1-0 victory, raising his season record to 2-0 in two starts with a 0.78 ERA and 14 strikeouts in 23 innings for the Mustangs, who have won seven-straight games. Poff compiled a .538 batting average last week (14-for-26) with 10 runs scored, 13 RBI, six doubles and a homer. He posted an .885 slugging percentage, a .586 on-base percentage and stole two bases for YCP, which is has won nine-straight.

Wesley freshman pitcher D.J. KECKLER (Fallston, Md./Fallston) was named the CAC Baseball Player of the Week after throwing a two-hit complete game shutout victory over CAC rival and the No. 1-ranked team in the country, Salisbury. In the scheduled seven-inning game, Keckler had to work out of jams in the seventh and eighth innings, then pitched a perfect ninth after the Wesley offense broke open the scoreless contest. In his first collegiate conference appearance, Keckler allowed just five baserunners and held the Gulls hitless over the final 7.1 innings (25 batters), including a stretch of 13-straight retired batters.

Mary Washington Sr. P ANDREW COX (Orlando, Fla./Trinity) was named the CAC Baseball Player of the Week after throwing a six-hit complete game victory over top-ranked Cortland State Saturday. Cox, now 2-0 with a 0.60 ERA this season, allowed a run on a pair of first-inning singles, then dominated the final eight innings. He walked four, struck out five and allowed just one hit in the final five innings for the undefeated Eagles.

Mary Washington Jr. 1B WILL WRIGHT (St. Louis, Mo./St. Louis Priory) was named the first CAC Baseball Player of the Week for the 2009 season after batting .571 (4-for-7) with three doubles and a triple as the Eagles opened the season with a doubleheader sweep of 2008 NCAA Tournament participant Messiah. In compiling his 1.286 slugging percentage, Wright knocked in three runs, scored three times and was successful on both stealing attempts as the Eagles topped Messiah 7-0 and 10-3. Wright also finished five double plays turned by the UMW infield in 14 innings.
