Frostburg State's Josh Davis And Mary Washington's Parker Talbert Sign Pro Baseball Contracts
A pair of CAC pitchers - Frostburg State's Josh Davis and Mary Washington's Parker Talbert - signed minor league baseball contracts over the weekend.
Mary Washington 2011 graduate Parker Talbert (Virginia Beach, Va., Cape Henry Collegiate) has signed a professional contract to play for the Alpine Cowboys of the independent Pecos League, and pitched two scoreless innings in his first relief appearance with two walks and three strikeouts.
Talbert becomes the 14th Mary Washington baseball player to play professionally. This season for the Eagles, Talbert went 4-3 with a 2.07 ERA with two complete games with 43 strikeouts in 61 innings.
Former Frostburg State pitcher Josh
Davis (Freeland, Md./Hereford) recently signed
a contract with the Gateway Grizzlies of the Frontier League.
Davis finished his senior year with a 5-3 overall record and two
saves. He had a 3.51 ERA and was third on the team with
47 strikeouts. Davis picked up his first save with a three-inning
performance in the Capital Athletic Conference championship game
where he gave up two runs on five hits and fanned five.
He earned his second save of the season pitching a perfect two
innings against No. 3 Shenandoah. In his final start on the mound,
Davis went six strong innings against Washington & Jefferson,
earning the win. He gave up just two runs, one earned, on six hits
and four walks while striking out two.
Based in Sauget, Ill., the Grizzlies currently sit in second place
in the Frontier League’s West Division at 10-5, two games out
of first.
