Salisbury senior Dan Fein and Frostburg State junior Zach Keeler were both named to the Capital One Academic All-America Baseball Team, announced on Tuesday, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.

Fein, a pitcher from Southbury, Conn., has carried a 4.0 in his major of mathematics at Salisbury. Fein has also shined on the field, earning a 6-1 record with a 3.48 ERA and 40 strikeouts in 64.2 innings on the mound this spring. Fein earned the NCAA's Elite 89 award at this year's College World Series, presented to the to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's 89 championships.

Fein becomes the fifth Sea Gull baseball player to receive Academic All-America honors, and first since 2013. 

A Waldorf, Md. native, Keeler carries a perfect 4.0 in the classroom, while majoring in economics and business administration. Keeler is a six-time Dean's List student, a two-time Capital Athletic Conference All-Academic selection and was a finalist for the NCAA's Elite 89 award. Of the 30 total Academic All-Americans covering the first, second and third teams, Keeler is one of five student-athletes that carries a perfect 4.0 GPA.

A designated hitter for the Bobcat baseball team, Keeler hit .327 in 52 games and finished third on the team in on-base percentage (.421) and fifth in runs scored (36), while contributing 50 hits, seven doubles, two home runs, 30 RBI and 63 total bases. The Bobcats finished 43-9 overall, captured both the Capital Athletic Conference regular season and tournament championships and set both the Frostburg and CAC records for victories in a season.

Keeler is the second Capital One Academic All-American for the Bobcat baseball program and first since 1999.
