Salisbury and Frostburg State Headed to NCAA Baseball Regionals

For the second straight year, both Salisbury and Frostburg State will represent the CAC in NCAA Baseball Regional Tournaments, announced early Monday morning.

The entire NCAA Tournament field consists of 56 teams at eight regional sites, with play beginning on Wednesday. Regional competition will be held May 18-22. Winners of the eight regional tournaments will advance for the double-elimination championship at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, Wis., May 27-June 1 2016.

Salisbury, which earned the CAC's automatic bid with a 9-8 victory over Frostburg State in the championship game, will travel to Moosic, Pa. for the eight-team Mid-Atlantic Regional hosted by Misericordia at PNC Field. This marks the 22nd overall and 17th straight NCAA appearance for the Sea Gulls. 

The Sea Gulls (25-10) received the No. 3 seed in the Mid-Atlantic Regional and will take on sixth-seeded Kean (26-16) in the opening round on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. Other teams in the regional include top-seeded Misericordia (34-11), second-seeded St. John Fisher (34-11), fourth-seeded Haverford (27-12), fifth-seeded UMass Boston (28-14), seventh-seeded Salve Regina (26-16-1), and eighth-seeded Penn State Berks (22-11). 

Frostburg State earned an at-large bid to the field and will travel to Auburn, N.Y. for the six-team New York Regional hosted by Cortland State. 

The Bobcats (30-12) will be the No. 3 seed and face off against fourth-seeded Susquehanna (29-14) in Wednesday's opening round. Other teams in the regional include top-seeded Cortland State (37-5), second-seeded Ramapo (33-10-1), fifth-seeded Union (N.Y.) (26-12), and sixth-seeded Castleton (32-10).
