Complete D3baseball.com All-America Team

Christopher Newport senior Tommy Vitaletti was named to the D3baseball.com All-America Third Team, announced Thursday morning. Vitaletti was the lone CAC player to earn All-America honors from D3baseball.com.

 Earlier this week, Vitaletti collected first team All-South honors from both D3baseball.com and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).

Vitaletti closed his career with a team-best .391 batting average as one of two players to start all 39 games during the year. The right fielder for CNU led the team in runs scored (45), doubles (16), triples (2), homers (10), runs batted in (45), total bases (111), and stolen bases (17). In addition, he also led the team in slugging, with a .712 mark that ranks in the top ten all time for a single season in CNU history. 

Vitaletti led the conference in doubles and slugging percentage, and ranked in the top ten in a handful of other categories. He also played perfect defense in right field, cruising through the season without an error in 59 total chances. 

For his career, Vitaletti concludes his tenure as the all-time leader in batting average, with a .393 mark in 305 at-bats. He also ranks second in on-base percentage (.466) and third in career slugging (.685). Despite only playing two years for the Captains, Vitaletti smashed 35 doubles, tied for eighth most in CNU history, and six triples, tied for sixth.
