Salisbury Stays Alive in NCAA Regional With 5-2 Victory Over Salve Regina; Frostburg State Eliminated by Cortland State

Both CAC baseball teams competing in NCAA Regionals faced elimination games on Thursday, with Salisbury staying alive while Frostburg State was knocked out by the top-ranked team in the country.

At the Mid-Atlantic Regional in Moosic, Pa., third-seeded Salisbury downed seventh-seeded Salve Regina, 5-3, on Thursday afternoon. With the win, the Sea Gulls advance in the double-elimination tournament and will meet the loser of fifth-seeded UMass Boston and eighth-seeded Penn State Berks on Friday at 10 a.m.

Alex Lipman led the way for Salisbury with two hits and two RBIs, while Pete Grasso and Tyler Hrycak each added two hits apiece. Grasso earned the win on the mound, going 6.0 innings and allowing just one run on three hits with eight strikeouts.

At the New York Regional in Auburn, N.Y., Frostburg State saw its season come to a close with a 6-0 loss to top-ranked and defending national champion Cortland State.

The Bobcats concluded the year with a 30-14 record following the defeat. A five-run bottom of the sixth proved key for the Red Dragons in the victory.
