Salisbury Blanks Mary Washington, Earns Second Straight CAC Baseball Title

Top-seeded Salisbury completed its perfect run through the CAC Baseball Tournament with a 21-0 blanking over sixth-seeded Mary Washington Saturday, giving the Sea Gulls their second straight CAC title at the SU Baseball Field.

The title is the Sea Gulls' 14th overall and fifth in the last six seasons. With the win, Salisbury earns the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. NCAA regional tournaments selections will be announced on Sunday, May 14.

Salisbury came out firing in the first inning, putting eight runs on the board in the top of the opening frame to put the pressure of the Eagles' arms early. The Sea Gulls gradually built their lead throughout the contest, including nine total runs in the final two innings for the final 21-run margin.

Pete Grasso earned his second win of the tournament on the mound for SU, tossing 7.0 shutout innings with nine strikeouts and six hits allowed. Grasso also shined at the plate, going 4-for-7 with a home run, three RBIs, and three runs scored. Scott Ardoin also had three RBIs for the Sea Gulls, while leadoff hitter Justin Meekins went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and scored four times.
