Salisbury Falls to Roanoke in NCAA South Baseball Regional Championship

The Salisbury baseball team saw its season come to a close on Sunday as the top-seeded Sea Gulls fell to sixth-seeded Roanoke 13-5 in a winn-er-take-all championship game at the NCAA South Regional Championship in Danville, Va. 

The CAC champion Sea Gulls close the year at 35-11 with the loss, while Roanoke (33-17) advances to the College World Series in Appleton, Wisc. 

Salisbury opened the day with a dramatic 7-6 victory over Roanoke to force the winner-take-all title game. Pete Grasso pitched the final 4.2 innings to earn the win on the mound, while Justin Meekins led the Gulls at the plate with a 3-for-4 performance with two RBIs and three runs scored, including a key RBI double in the eighth inning. 

In game two, Roanoke broke open a 4-4 game with a seven-run top of the sixth that proved crucial in the outcome. Robbie Jones and Kyle Canavan had two hits apiece for SU in the loss, while Scott Ardoin notched two RBIs.
