FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Mary Washington sophomore Christian Hague, Salisbury junior Jack Barry and Southern Virginia senior Tayler Peterson were honored as the CAC Baseball Players of the Week for April 16, 2018.

Mary Washington sophomore Christian Hague was named the CAC Player of the Week after going 10-for-19 (.526) with four home runs, three doubles, six runs scored and nine RBIs in four games last week. Hague's top performance came in a 12-7 win over Southern Virginia, as he went 4-for-5 with two home runs, five RBIs and scored twice. He then went 6-for-10 in a doubleheader at Salisbury with three doubles and two home runs. His OPS for the week was 1.866, with seven extra base hits and 25 total bases.

Salisbury junior Jack Barry was awarded as the CAC Co-Player of the Week after batting 10-for-22 (.455) with four home runs, nine RBIs and 10 runs scored in a 5-0 week for the Sea Gulls. Barry registerd three hits in three of the five contests and scored at least once in all five wins. His top performance came in a key CAC showdown with Christopher Newport, as he belted three home runs with five RBIs and three runs scored in a 17-7 victory.

Southern Virginia senior Tayler Peterson was named the CAC Pitcher of the Week after tossing a complete-game shutout against Wesley on Saturday. Peterson allowed only four hits throughout his nine innings on the mound, recording three stirkeouts with two walks. It amrked his fourth victory in a row and fourth CAC win of the year. In conference play, he boasts a CAC-best ERA of 0.58 this season.

In the D3baseball.com week 7 rankings, Christopher Newport is No. 5 and Salisbury is No. 24 ... In the ABCA/Collegiate Baseball Poll, Christopher Newport is No. 5 and Salisbury isreceiving votes ... CNU's Joe Burris broke the CAC record for pitching appearances on Saturday, making his 69th and 70th career appearances on the mound ... Frostburg State senior Greg Schneider posted his second complete game of the season last week against Marymount, allowing just four hits and two runs while striking out 13 batters. He lowered his season ERA to 1.36 (1st in CAC), and also leads the CAC in strikeouts (81). Schneider is the active career leader in strikeouts across all NCAA divisions ... Marymount freshman Casey Baker went 4-for-10 this past week with three of his four hits being doubles. He drove in three RBIs and had four runs, while adding two walks and two stolen bases ... Penn State Harrisburg senior Alex Cline led the Lions to a 4-1 week. Cline delivered 11 hits, nine runs scored, seven RBIs, two doubles, a home run, and two stolen bases. Justin Kaplan picked up a two-inning save in the Lions' win over Marymount and secured his third win of the season in relief against St. Mary's, pitching 5.2 innings striking out five while allowing only six hits ... Salisbury senior Austin Heenan combined to pitch 14 and 1/3 innings in wins over CAC rivals Wesley and Mary Washington. He allowed only three earned runs for a 1.88 ERA, and struck out 20 batters, including 14 in the win over Mary Washington. Against Wesley, he gave up only one hit through seven innings ... Southern Virginia freshman Caleb Layden led the Knights with a hit and a run in each game last week, totaling three hits, three runs and three RBIs in a 2-1 week ... Will Foster paced Wesley's offense last week with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored against St. Mary's and an RBI triple against Southern Virginia. Alex Marrs struck out seven batters in a win against St. Mary's ... York junior centerfielder Grant Oberholtzer led the Spartans to a 4-1 week as he hit .476 with 10 hits in 21 games with eight runs scored, eight RBIs and four doubles.
