Salisbury's Connor Reeves Named ABCA National Pitcher of the Year

ABCA National Pitchers of the Year

Salisbury senior Connor Reeves collected his second National Pitcher of the Year award on Monday as he was named Division III's top pitcher by the America Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). Earlier this year, Reeves was named the D3baseball.com National Pitcher of the Year. 

A first-team All-America pick by by the ABCA and D3baseball.com, Reeves led the nation in wins as he compiled a CAC and school-record 14 wins (14-3) for the Sea Gulls. His WHIP of 0.73 also led all Division III pitchers in 2018. Reeves helped lead the Sea Gulls to their third straight CAC title this spring and has also been awarded as the ABCA/Rawlings and D3baseball.com South Region Pitcher of the Year. He amassed 113 strikeouts over 120 2/3 innings of work, including six complete games and three shutouts. For his efforts, he was also honored as a first-team All-America pick. 

The ABCA National Pitchers of the Year are chosen by the ABCA All-America committees in each respective division. ABCA/Rawlings First-Team All-America selections are eligible for National Pitcher of the Year honors.

The ABCA, founded in 1945, is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Its over 9,700 members represent all 50 states and 23 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association membership has broadened to include eight divisions: NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA, Pacific Association Division, High School and Youth. The 75th annual ABCA Convention will be held Jan. 3-6, 2019 in Dallas, Texas.
