ABCA/Rawlings All-America Teams

The American Baseball Coaches Association released the 2019 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. III All-America teams on Thursday (May 30) evening. Three players from the Capital Athletic Conference were honored on the distinction list. Penn State Harrisburg junior outfielder Bret Williams achieved first team status, while his teammate senior second base Miguel Torres earned second team accolades. Christopher Newport senior shortstop Nick DiNapoli also collected second team honors for the Captains.

For Williams, his impressive list of postseason awards continues to grow. The junior adds his second all-America honor of the spring after he became the first player in program history to earn all-America recognition of any kind when he was pegged a First-Teamer by D3baseball.com earlier this week. His most recent accolade comes after he was named the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional Player of the Year and First-Team All-Region by the ABCA and Rawlings on Tuesday. He was also pegged D3baseball.com First-Team All-Region earlier this month.

Williams turned in a career year in 2019 and currently leads the nation in hits (88), runs (75) and total bases (161). He also ranks second in the country in home runs (18) and runs batted in (70). The outfielder was named the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Player of the Year after winning the league's batting title and slashing .431/.514/.789 with an OPS of 1.303. He added 36 extra-base hits, including 17 doubles, 32 walks and seven stolen bases. Williams was named CAC First-Team All-Conference for the second year in a row after picking up D3baseball.com National Team of the Week and CAC Player of the Week honors earlier this season.

Torres has also racked up quite the list of postseason accolades this spring, capping an outstanding senior campaign with the first all-America honor of his career after earning ABCA/Rawlings All-Region First-Team recognition and D3baseball.com Second-Team All-Region honors earlier this month.

The infielder ranks third in NCAA Division III in hits (79), eighth in runs (59), 19th in total bases (116) and 32nd in runs batted in (51). The Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic native slashed .385/.432/.572 with an OPS of 1.004 and recorded 21 extra-base hits, including seven home runs, 10 doubles and four triples. He added 19 walks and 15 stolen bases, while racking up 117 assists and 84 put outs from his middle infield positions. Thanks to his efforts, Torres was named to the CAC All-Conference First Team earlier this spring.

DiNapoli earned the recognition after hitting in the three hole of one of the nation's most elite offenses in 2019. While helping churn out a record-breaking number of runs as a team, DiNapoli finished the season hitting .374 while slugging .676 and reaching base at a .457 clip. He ranked eighth nationally in home runs, 14th in runs scored, and 18th in RBI while hitting in the middle of the Captains lineup that ranked number one in the NCAA in runs scored per game. 

This season, DiNapoli secured All-American hoonors by starting 43 games at shortstop and driving in 53 runs with 57 runs scored. He had 67 hits in 179 at-bats with 13 home runs and 11 doubles. He added a perfect 11-for-11 on the basepaths for only the sixth perfect stolen base percentage among players with at least 10 steals in a season at CNU.
