FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- York senior outfielder Grant Oberholtzer & Salisbury sophomore pitcher Jimmy Adkins earned CAC baseball weekly awards for April 8, 2019.

York senior outfielder Grant Oberholtzer had a strong week as the Spartans went 4-1. Oberholtzer had at least one hit in every game with three multi-hit games. Oberholtzer went 11-for-24 with a .458 average while also picking up two doubles, a triple, a homerun, and 8 RBI on the week. He also scored 10 runs and stole five bases on the week.

Salisbury sophomore Jimmy Adkins appeared in two contests for the Sea Gulls last week, both as a starter and a closer. Adkins earned a save in an 11-8 win over Wesley College on Wednesday afternoon, then took the hill in a Sunday start against Christopher Newport. Adkins had his best out of the season, tossing a complete game shutout on the road against the top-ranked team in the nation to earn his third win of the season. He threw 143 pitches across all nine innings, while scattering six hits and fanning six batters in the process.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Penn State Harrisburg's Bret Williams had a historic week for Penn State Harrisburg, leading the Lions to three victories and becoming the program's all-time hits leader with 156 for his career (a number that he's since improved to 162). The junior broke the record in a victory over Elizabethtown during which he racked up four hits, scored a pair of runs and drove in two more. He followed it up with two home runs, a double, three RBI and three runs scored in a doubleheader sweep of Southern Virginia on Saturday before adding another double and a pair of walks against perennial power Shenandoah on Sunday afternoon. For the week, Williams slashed .588/.650/1.059 with an OPS of 1.709, racked up 18 total bases and was a perfect 8-for-8 on putout chances from his outfield position....Frostburg State's Chase Delost struckout seven in 4.0 innings of relief work against Mary Washington...York's Will Grega picked up his second win on the season with a stellar outing against St. Mary's. Grega tossed 7.2 innings allowing just 2 runs and picking up 8 strikeouts. Grega improved to 2-2 on the season with the win...Mary Washington's Hank Biggs won a pair of starts this week as Mary Washington won three straight, blanking Averett over seven innings on Wednesday and limiting Frostburg State in CAC action. Biggs allowed three hits in seven innings at Averett, walking two and striking out four in the Eagles' 8-0 victory. He then came back on short rest to top Frostburg on Saturday, scattering 10 hits in 7.1 innings with three earned runs pn three walks and seven strikeouts. For the week, he went 2-0 with a 1.88 ERA in 14.1 innings, with 11 strikeouts… UMW's Stephen Johnston's red hot bat led to three UMW victories this week, as he batted .571 with eight hits in 14 at bats, with one home run, six runs scored, and six rund batted in. He had a career high five hits with four RBI in an 8-0 win at Averett on Wednesday, and then went 3-8 in a doubleheader sweep of Frostburg with three doubles and five runs scored. He posted a 1.667 OPS for the week. He also pitched twice in relief, allowing five hits in seven innings with one earned run while striking out three...Salisbury's Jimmy Adkins had an equally impressive week as a hitter while starting at third base for the Sea Gulls in three contests. Adkins combined to hit .462 while scoring three runs and driving home another six. He also stole a base and drew two walks...St. Mary's Bowen Plagge led the Seahawks from the plate with a .400 batting average and recorded four hits. Two of those hits were home runs. In addition, Plagge tallied two RBI, one walk, and one stolen base...Mary Washington's Stephen Johnston's red hot bat led to three UMW victories this week, as he batted .571 with eight hits in 14 at bats, with one home run, six runs scored, and six rund batted in. He had a career high five hits with four RBI in an 8-0 win at Averett on Wednesday, and then went 3-8 in a doubleheader sweep of Frostburg with three doubles and five runs scored.
