Penn State Harrisburg junior Bret Williams was selected to the D3baseball.com All-America First Team to highlight three players from the CAC earning the distinction, announced Tuesday (May 28).

Christopher Newport senior second baseman Joseph Cutchins claimed third team accolades, while CNU senior third baseman Seth Woodard collected All-America honors for second straight year as he was named to the fourth team.

Williams, the junior, turned in a career year in 2019 and currently leads the nation in hits (88), runs (75) and total bases (161). The Mount Carmel, Pa. native also ranks second in the country in home runs (18) and runs batted in (70). Williams was named the CAC Player of the Year after winning the league's batting title and slashing .431/.514/.789 with an OPS of 1.303. The outfielder added 36 extra-base hits, including 17 doubles, 32 walks and seven stolen bases. Williams was named CAC First-Team All-Conference for the second year in a row after picking up D3baseball.com National Team of the Week and CAC Player of the Week honors earlier this season.

Cutchins, the Goochland, Va. native, started the year as a late-inning defensive replacement in right field, but his hot bat soon demanded a spot in the every day lineup. A pair of pinch hit grand slams early in the year kickstarted one of the most consistent offensive seasons in CNU history. Cutchins hit .406, ranking in the top-ten in program history, while blistering 22 extra-base hits including nine home runs. He finished the season leading the team in slugging with a .707 mark with 50 RBI and 46 runs scored despite hitting in the bottom third of the lineup.

Cutchins was also exceptional defensively, posting a .979 fielding percentage with just three errors at the keystone. He added a perfect 10-for-10 run on the basepaths. Punctuating his stellar swan song season, Cutchins logged one of the finest individual game performances in the 2019 CAC Championship Game to help propel CNU to their first title in the league. Against Penn State Harrisburg, Cutchins was 3-for-9 with 9 RBI, 2 HR, 1 2B, and 3 runs scored. The nine runs driven in rank tied for the second most in a single game in CNU history.

Woodard, a first team All-Conference pick at the hot corner, polished off one of the best two-year tenures in the history of CNU baseball. Showcasing one of the nation's most disciplined eyes, Woodard walked 59 times this season to lead the country and rank tied for 10th all-time in Division III baseball. His patience at the plate helped build a .523 on-base percentage, ranked 20th nationally.

While hitting second for the potent Christopher Newport offense, Woodard hit .323 with a a team-leading 64 runs scored, tying a program record and ranking third nationally this season. He also tied for fifth nationally in RBI by driving in 61 runs, becoming just the second player in CNU Baseball history to post two 60+ RBI seasons in his career. Woodard pounded out 26 extra-base hits including 11 home runs and was one of only four players to start all 45 games this season for the Captains.
