2006 Capital Athletic Conference Field Hockey All-Conference Teams

ST. MARY’S CITY, MD - Catholic University placed seven athletes on the 2006 All-Capital Athletic Conference (CAC)field hockey teams as released today by the conference office. The Cardinals had four players selected to the first team and three selections on the second team. St. Mary’s (Md.) garnered four players on the squad with one first team selection and three second team picks; while Salisbury, the 12-time defending conference champions, placed three athletes on the first team. Catholic’s freshman goalkeeper Marian Cassilly was chosen as the Rookie of the Year while Salisbury senior forward Megan Powell was selected as the Player of the Year. After leading her team to a regular season upset of Salisbury and the CAC tournament’s number one seed, head coach Gia Cillizza of Catholic was chosen by her peers as the 2006 CAC Coach of the Year.
