Mary Washington's Lisa Charney Named NCAA Div. III Field Hockey Player Of The Year; 6 CAC Players On All-America Team

Senior midfielder Lisa Charney, who led the University of Mary Washington field hockey team to its first Final Four appearance in 19 years, was selected as the NCAA Division III National Player of the Year by SynapseSports.com.

Charney was one of six CAC players named to the SynapseSports.com All-America team.  Also earning first-team All-America recognition were UMW teammate Caitlin Baker and Salisbury's Amber Holland.

Wesley's Madison Leone, the CAC Co-Player of the Year with Charney, earned second-team all-America honors while UMW's Claire Gianelle and Salisbury's Kristina Fusco were third-team choices.

All-Rookie team honors were presented to Eagle freshman, Jenna Steele, the 2012 CAC Rookie of the Year, teammate Haley Kane and York's Abby Baker.
