Salisbury Field Hockey Blanks Centre, 4-0, Advances to NCAA Quarterfinals

Four different Salisbury players found the back of the cage as the top-ranked Sea Gulls rolled to a 4-0 victory over Centre on Saturday in NCAA Second Round play at Sea Gull Stadium.

With the win, Salisbury advances to Sunday's NCAA Quarterfinals, where they will meet the winner of Saturday afternoon's matchup at Sea Gull Stadium between Wellesley (18-2) and Juniata (15-5).

The Sea Gulls (18-1) wasted littled time jumping on top of Centre (16-8), as Abbey Shobe registered an unassisted tally in the 9th minute. Courtney Jantzen (21st min.) and Natalie Wilkinson (25th min.) added first-half scores to stretch the SU lead to 3-0 at the half.

After assisting on Jantzen's first-half goal, Mallory Elliott put the icing on the cake for the Sea Gulls with a late goal in the 66th minute off a feed from Samantha Johnson for the final 4-0 margin.

Salisbury goalkeeper Rachel Clewer was largely unchallenged throughout, as the Sea Gull defense surrendered only two shots, with just one on goal, during the contest. Clewer posted one save in the win.
