CAC Fall Teams Set for NCAA Postseason

NCAA Championship competition commences this weekend for a number of CAC fall sports teams. The NCAA postseason opens up in cross country, field hockey, men's and women's soccer, and volleyball. 

This weekend also tips off the 2014-15 men's and women's basketball seasons, while several swimming teams will compete as well.

Below is a full breakdown of this weekend's slate NCAA postseason of contests:


VOLLEYBALL - NCAA Bracket 

This weekend's action kicks off on Friday afternoon as Christopher Newport (29-2) will meet Hunter (23-13) at 3 p.m. at the NCAA Regional hosted by Stockton in Galloway, N.J. 

Mary Washington (23-7) takes on Case Western (24-7) at 5:30 p.m. at the regional hosted by Juniata in Huntingdon, Pa. The Eagles earned an at-large bid into NCAA's after falling in the CAC semifinals. 

Each volleyball regional consists of eight teams, with the regional champions to be crowned on Sunday afternoon. 


CROSS COUNTRY

Seven CAC cross country teams will compete at NCAA Regional Championships this Saturday in hopes of claiming bids into the NCAA National Championships. Five teams are headed to the Mid-East Championships in Newville, Pa. and two to the South/Southeast Championships in Kernstown, Va. 

NCAA Mid-East Regional Championships  

Saturday, Nov. 14 | Newville, Pa. 

  • Frostburg State, Penn State Harrisburg, St. Mary's, Salisbury, and York 

NCAA South/Southeast Regional Championships  

Saturday, Nov. 14 | Kernstown, Va.  

  • Christopher Newport, Mary Washington

FIELD HOCKEY - NCAA Bracket 

Salisbury earned the lone NCAA bid from the CAC with a 2-1 double-overtime victory over Mary Washington in last Saturday's CAC Championship. After receiving a first round bye, the Sea Gulls (14-3) will face Rochester (18-5) at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pa. 

Rochester defeated Misericordia 2-1 in Wednesday's first round to set up a second-round matchup with the Sea Gulls. Host Ursinus (17-3) will take on Stevens (15-7) in the other regional showdown. The two winners will meet Sunday at 1 p.m. with a Final Four bid at stake. 


MEN'S SOCCER - NCAA Bracket 

Salisbury (13-3-3) is set for a first-round showdown with defending national champion Tufts (9-4-3) in Montclair, N.J. on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The Sea Gulls are making their third straight NCAA appearance and reached the postseason for the fourth time in the last five years. Host Montclair State (18-2-1) will take on Daniel Webster (18-3) in the other first-round matchup, with the winners to meet Sunday at 6 p.m. 


WOMEN'S SOCCER - NCAA Bracket 

York (9-10) travels to Granville, Ohio for a first-round matchup with Washington-St. Louis (16-2) on Saturday at 11 a.m. The regional is being hosted by Denison (15-4), who will face DeSales (14-5) in the other first-round matchup. The two winners will meet on Sunday at 1 p.m. for a spot in the Sweet 16.
