Four CAC Field Hockey Players Named NFHCA All-Americans

NFHCA All-America Team

Four CAC field hockey players were named All-Americans by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA). Christopher Newport junior Rachael Allshouse earned first-team accolades, York senior Ali Posey was named to the second team, and the Salisbury duo of senior Tressie Windsor and sophomore Jillian Hughes grabbed third-team honors.

Allshouse paced a potent CNU attack throughout the year. She ranked first on the team and fourth in the CAC with 13 goals and 30 points. Showing a flair for clutch situations, she also established a new single-season program record with six game-winning strikes. Allhouse was a first-team All-Region and first-team All-CAC selection. In three years with the Captains, Allshouse currently ranks eighth in program history with 30 career goals. The Annandale, Virginia native also stands ninth all-time with 68 points and second with 10 game-winning strikes. Allshouse helped lead Christopher Newport to a 17-2 record and a berth in the NCAA Sweet 16 during the 2017 campaign. Along the way, the Captains claimed the CAC regular season and tournament titles while climbing to fourth in the NFHCA National Coaches Poll.

York's Posey secured All-America honors for the second time, having previously been named to the third team as a sophomore. She is the only All-American in program history. As a senior in a new role, Posey finished with 21 points on seven goals, totaling 50 for her career, and seven assists in 18 games. She buried two game-winning goals in her final season, against Albright and Bridgewater (Va.), and recorded at least two points in a game seven times.

In addition to her 2015 NFCHA All-American honors, she is a four-time first-team All-CAC selection, the conference's 2014 Rookie of the Year, and a four-time pick on the All-Region squad. She ranks second on the all-time points list with 120 in 76 games, second in goals (50), tied for eighth in assists (20), and fourth in game-winning goals (12). She also has recorded the most shots in program history with 383.

Salisbury's Windsor and Hughes both earned the first All-America nods of their careers. Salisbury is one of just 10 schools with at least two All-Americans this year, while Hughes is one of only four sophomores to earn the honor. The 2017 CAC Player of the Year, Windsor recorded a 12-5 record in the cage to go with a 0.81 goals-allowed average and a .827 save percentage. She ranked at the top of the CAC and 10th nationally in save percentage, while standing second in the CAC and sixth nationally in GAA.

Hughes helped to anchor the defense in front of Windsor, as the Salisbury defense ranked fifth in the nation in team goals-allowed average, giving up just 0.79 goals per 70 minutes. Hughes turned away four opposing shots with defensive saves this season, leading the team and standing fifth in the league.
