Top-seeded Salisbury defeated third-seeded Christopher Newport 3-1 to collects its 21st CAC Field Hockey Championship on Saturday at Sea Gull Stadium in Salisbury, Md.
The win sends the Sea Gulls (16-2) to the NCAA Tournament as the CAC's automatic representative. The NCAA bracket will be announced late Sunday night on NCAA.com
The Sea Gulls struck first in the 17th minute on a penalty stroke from Jillian Hughes. The Captains squared things up just four minutes later on a score from Bailey Miller to even the score at 1-1. Rachel Domanico helped the Sea Gulls regain the lead with a tally just before halftime, before Rebecca Lloyd finished a feed from Jenna Partilla just over six minutes into the second half for the final 3-1 margin.
