Salisbury and Christopher Newport Notch Semifinal Wins, Set Up CAC Field Hockey Title Rematch

CAC Field Hockey Tournament Bracket

Salisbury and Christopher Newport each secured victories in the CAC field hockey semifinals on Wednesday, setting up a championship rematch on Saturday in Salisbury, Md.

Top-seeded Salisbury (15-2) will host third-seeded CNU (13-5) on Saturday at 6 p.m. at Sea Gull Staidum with the CAC title on the line. CNU topped SU 2-1 in double overtime in last year's championship game. It will mark the fourth championship matchup between the two sides since CNU joined the conference in 2013.

In Salisbury on Wednesday, the Sea Gulls blanked fourth-seeded Mary Washington 3-0. Lexi Butler and Jenna Partilla each tallied one goal and one assist for the Sea Gulls, while Jillian Hughes scored what proved to be the game-winner just over a minute into the game.

In York, Pa., CNU upended second-seeded York 2-1 behind Courtney Fiest's game-winning strike with five minutes left in regulation. York initally led early on as Greta Plappert put the Spartans on top in the 24th minute, but CNU's Jackie Kotoriy evened things up in the 31st minute off a feed from Fiest.
