Salisbury Selected to Host NCAA Field Hockey Second-Third Rounds

The Salisbury University field hockey team knew Saturday night it would be playing this week, thanks to winning its 21st Capital Athletic Conference championship and earning the automatic bid into the NCAA tournament, but on Sunday night, the Sea Gulls learned their season would continue at Sea Gull Stadium.

The NCAA released the tournament bracket on Sunday night, giving Salisbury a first round bye and the right to host weekend competition on November 10 and 11.

Salisbury will take on the winner of a first round game between Washington & Jefferson College and Rhodes College which will take place on Wednesday, November 7. Salisbury's contest will be be played at 11 a.m., on Saturday. It will be one of two games that day in Sea Gull Stadium as Tufts University has also earned a first round bye and will take on the winner between Montclair State University and Smith College.

The two winners from Saturday will meet on Sunday afternoon with the advancing team heading to Manheim, Pennsylvania and Spooky Nook Sports for the national championship weekend as one of the final four teams in the tournament on November 17 and 18.
