MANHEIM, Pa. – The NCAA announced at the 2019 Division III Field Hockey National Championship Banquet that Salisbury University senior Arielle Johnston was named as the Elite 90 winner of Division III field hockey.

The Elite 90, an award founded by the NCAA, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The Elite 90 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's 90 championships.

Johnston, a Crisfield, Md. native, carries a perfect 4.0 grade-point average as a community health major with a minor in psychology and Spanish at Salisbury.

The Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Player of the Year, Johnston tied for the conference lead in assists (10), second in points (34) and third in goals (12). Johnston was also selected for the All-CAC First Team for the third time in her career and announced as a participant for the Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Senior Game.

Johnston is Salisbury's 11th Elite 90 award winner since the inception of the award in 2009.

The third-ranked Salisbury field hockey team will take on the second-ranked Middlebury Panthers on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. from Spooky Nook Sports Complex.
