On a cold, windy day at Sea Gull Stadium, the third-ranked Salisbury University field hockey team took down the FDU-Florham Devils, 1-0 in the NCAA Second Round.

Both teams were feeling each other out in the opening quarter. Salisbury was only able to tally two shots in the quarter, one in the opening moments of the game by Meghan Jolikko and another as the quarter ended by Sarah Jackson.

At the 43:10 mark of the third period, McKenzie Mitchell stepped up on the spot for Salisbury and put away the stroke just past a diving March for the lone goal of the contest.

Salisbury's defense played well throughout as the Sea Gull backline limited FDU to only one second-half shot to earn the win and advance in the tournament.

Salisbury will take on the Lynchburg Hornets on Sunday, who beat the Rowan Profs 1-0 in the other second-round game at Sea Gull Stadium on Saturday.

The winners of the four sites will advance to the semifinals and final, Saturday and Sunday, November 23 and 24, at Spooky Nook Sports Complex in Manheim, Pennsylvania. Semifinals will be played at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Eastern time, Saturday, November 23, with the championship game being played at 1 p.m. Eastern time, Sunday, November 24.
