Stevenson sophomore guard BRETT BURRIER (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) was named the CAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week after averaging 28.0 points and 8.5 rebounds while shooting 47% from the floor (17-for-36) and the three-point line (8-for-17). Burrier exploded for a career-high 39 points, including 6-for-12 from three-point range, in Saturday’s season-ending contest against Marymount. The 39-point outing was five points shy of the team record, and 18 of those scores were in the last 10 minutes of the game as Stevenson battled to the wire against the Saints. Burrier’s six long-range buckets against MU were the third-highest total in team history.

Hood College freshman swingman CAMERON COOK was named the CAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week after averaging 26.7 points and adding six rebounds, two steals, a block and an assist in three games last week. The key outing was a mid-week overtime win at Mary Washington, where Cook poured in 35 points, including seven long-range shots, to help the Blazers erase a 17-point deficit. For the week, Cook knocked down 44.4% from the field (24-for-54), 44.7% from three-point range (17-for-38) and 88.2% from the free throw line (15-for-17).

Pearman chipped in 17 points and five boards in a mid-week win at Marymount, then had his best game of the week (23 pts., 9 rebs., 1 steal) in a victory over then-second place Mary Washington, helping the Sea Gulls move into sixth place in the chase for a CAC playoff berth.

Frostburg State junior forward MAURICE WILLIAMS was named the CAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week after scoring 29.0 points, grabbing 7.5 rebounds, shooting 64.5% from the field (20-for-31), 94.4% from the free throw line (17-for-18) and adding three steals, two assists and a blocked shot in two games for the Bobcats. Williams, who entered the week averaging nine points per game, exploded for 30 in an overtime setback vs. York, and followed up with a 28-point effort in Saturday’s win at Stevenson that lifted FSU into sixth place in the CAC standings.

Wesley sophomore forward PAUL REYNOLDS (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) was named CAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the second time in the last three weeks after averaging 21.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and shooting 88.2% from the field in a pair of CAC victories. Reynolds drained all eight attempts on the way to 22 points, ripped down eight rebounds and dished out three assists in a midweek road win at Salisbury. He followed with a 7-for-9 shooting performance in a 20-point, six-rebound game to help the Wolverines down Mary Washington, moving past the Eagles and into second place in the CAC standings.

Hood senior center TYLER SNOOTS (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) was named CAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 10, 2011, after averaging 17.5 points and 15.5 rebounds in a pair of CAC victories. Snoots became the second player in team history to record at least 20 points and 20 rebounds in a game when he had 22/22 in the midweek win at Stevenson. The 22 rebounds is the second-highest total in a conference game in CAC history. Snoots, who missed another double-double by one rebound in Saturday’s win over Marymount, also added two assists, three blocked shots and two steals for the Blazers, who are riding a three-game win streak.

Wesley sophomore forward PAUL REYNOLDS (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) was named CAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 3, 2011, after averaging 14.7 points and 10.0 rebounds in three games for the Wolverines over the holiday break. He scored in double digits in all three outings, and his best performance was a 17-point, 17-rebound night against host Christopher Newport in the Captains’ Tournament championship game. Reynolds shot 53.6% from the field (15-for-28) and 85.7% from the line (12-for-14) and added four steals, three blocked shots and an assist for WC.

Mary Washington sophomore forward J.R. GRAY (Staunton, Va./Robert E. Lee) was named CAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 20, 2010 after leading the Eagles to four wins in six days. He scored 17 points and added six board and four blocks in UMW’s first win over Christopher Newport since 1985. Less than 24 hours later, he had 19 points, six rebounds and four rejections in a win over Greensboro. He also helped UMW win twice in Puerto Rico, including 13 points and 10 caroms in 12 minutes against Bayamon Central University.

St. Mary’s senior guard ALEX FRANZ (Catonsville, Md./Cardinal Gibbons) was named CAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 13, 2010 after averaging 19 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 2.0 steals and shooting 55.3% from the field, 41.2% from three-point range and 88.9% from the line in three games last week, including an eight-point loss at NCAA Division I The Citadel and two CAC victories. Franz, who won the award for the second time in the last three weeks, dropped in a career-high 25 points against The Citadel on 11-of-18 shooting, including three bombs. Two nights later, he scored 11 of his 20 points in the overtime period as the Seahawks held off visiting York. In a weekend win over Hood, Franz was perfect from the field on the way to 12 points.

Mary Washington freshman guard MATT BOWARD (Manassas, Va./Forest Park) and York senior guard KEVIN WHALEY (Dover, Pa./Dover) were named CAC Men’s Basketball Co-Players of the Week for Dec. 6, 2010 after averaging over 20 points and leading their respective teams to a pair of CAC wins last week. Boward knocked down 22 points in a mid-week victory over Stevenson, including four long-range shots, then drained four more bombs two nights later on the way to 21 points in a road win at Frostburg State. Boward, who scored 43 of his 56 points this season in this week’s games, also added a team-best seven rebounds at FSU. Whaley began the week by tying his career-high with 27 points, including four three-point goals and six rebounds, in a mid-week win against Wesley. Saturday at Marymount, he had 18 points, four caroms and three steals in just 20 minutes. For the week, Whaley was 14-for-22 from the field (63.6%), including 7-for-8 from three-point range, and 10-for-12 from the free throw line (87.5%).

Franz was 6-for-11 from the field (54.5%), including a pair of long-range shots, and was 7-for-8 from the charity stripe.

St. Mary’s senior guard CAMONTAE GRIFFIN (Baltimore, Md./Dunbar) was named CAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the fifth time this season after averaging 17.5 points, 4.3 assists and 3.0 rebounds, 1.3 steals in leading the Seahawks to four wins, clinching the CAC regular-season title and top seed in the CAC Tournament for the second-straight year. Griffin drained 22 points and matches his season-high with five assists in a showdown for first place against Wesley, and added a 20-point performance at Gallaudet. In less than two seasons, Griffin reached the 1,000 career point plateau in Tuesday’s win over Wesley. Griffin tallied 14 points in each weekend win against York and Mary Washington. He was SMC’s leading scorer in three of four games and had just five turnovers in four games.
