York College Assistant Dean for Athletics and Recreation Paul Saikia is proud to announce that Matt Hunter has been named the Spartans' new Head Men's Basketball and Golf coach. Hunter replaces long-time head coach Jeff Gamber who is retiring after 35 years at the helm of both Spartan programs.

York College senior men's basketball player Paul Kouvaris, who was named to the NABC Mid-Atlantic All-Region team Tuesday, has been selected to play in the 2012 Reese's Division III College All-Star Game on Saturday, March 17 at the Salem Civic Center in Salem, VA. The game will be played as part of the 2012 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship weekend.

York College senior forward Paul Kouvaris has been selected to represent the Mid-Atlantic region in the fan vote for the Reese's Division III All-Star game at the Final Four in Salem, Virginia on March 17. Kouvaris is one of eight players that can receive votes for the two ten man teams. The top two vote getters will earn a berth in the game that will be held prior to the national championship game on Saturday.

York senior forward Paul Kouvaris and coach Jeff Gamber were selected along with Marymount freshman guard Jesse Konadu to lead the 2012 All-CAC Men’s Basketball team. Kouvaris, a two-time all-star, was selected by the conference coaches as the 2012 Player of the Year while Gamber, who announced his retirement prior to the beginning of his 36th season, was selected by his peers as the conference Coach of the Year.

Sixth-seeded Hood also advanced to the CAC semifinals with an 85-69 win at third-seeded Wesley.

Wesley junior forward PAUL REYNOLDS (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) was selected as the CAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week after leading the Wolverines to a pair of victories, which lifted the team into the No. 3 seed in the 2012 CAC Tournament. Reynolds pumped home 24 points and added 11 rebounds as the Wolverines rallied in the second half for a mid-week victory over York. He was 4-for-4 at the line in the final minute and grabbed a key offensive rebound in the waning seconds to secure the win over the Spartans. Reynolds then added 16 points, eight boards and matched his two assists from the YCP game in Saturday’s triumph over visiting Mary Washington.
