Frostburg State Senior Christian Jackson Named CAC Men's Basketball Player Of The Week

Frostburg State senior guard CHRISTIAN JACKSON (Forestville, Md./Suitland) was selected as the CAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 18, 2013 after lifting his team into the fifth seed for the CAC playoffs by averaging 23.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and shooting 56% from the field in a pair of conference victories. Jackson scored 17 points in a midweek game against Marymount that clinched a playoff berth, then added 30 points, hitting 9-for-13 (including 4-for-6 from three point range) in a season-ending game at York.

St. Mary’s senior guard DEVIN SPENCER (Baltimore, Md./Towson Catholic) was selected as the CAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the second-straight week after pouring in 25 points on 8-for-12 shooting (67%), including 6-for-8 from three-point range (75%), and adding five rebounds, two assists and a steal as the 14th-ranked Seahawks stopped 24th-ranked Wesley in the battle for first place in CAC.

St. Mary’s senior guard DEVIN SPENCER (Baltimore, Md./Towson Catholic) was selected as the CAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 28, 2013, after leading the Seahawks to a pair of road victories, including a conference triumph at York Saturday to keep SMC tied for first place. Spencer was 6-for-10 from three-point range on the way to 18 points and added three rebounds, two assists and a steal plus strong pressure defense against the Spartans.
Marymount Junior Forward Reed Scott Named CAC Men's Basketball Player Of The Week

Marymount junior forward REED SCOTT (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) was selected as the CAC Men’s Basketball Players of the Week for Jan. 21, 2013, after leading the Saints to their first win streak of the season and their first CAC victory of the season. Scott scored 16 points in wins over Ferrum and Saturday’s CAC triumph at Frostburg State, which lifted the Saints back into the CAC playoff chase. He also shot 52.5% from the floor (12-for-22), 100% from the free throw line (8-for-8) and had 13 rebounds, two assists, two steals and three blocked shots in the two victories.

St. Mary’s junior guard DONN HILL was selected as the CAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 31, 2012 after scoring 19 points in each game and leading the Seahawks to victories over Swarthmore and Misericordia in SMC’s holiday tournament. Hill earned All-Tournament recognition after the 11th-ranked Seahawks extended their win streak to 10 games. The team’s leading scorer in four-straight games, Hill dished out a season-high three assists against Swarthmore and totaled a season-high five steals in the win vs. Misericordia. For the week, he shot 68.2% from the field (15-for-22) and hit 72.7 at the free throw line (8-for-11).
Wesley's David Langan Named CAC Men's Basketball Player Of The Week

Wesley’s junior center DAVID LANGAN (Sayreville, N.J./Sareville War Memorial) was selected as the CAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 24, 2012. Langan averaged 16.3 points, 13.3 rebounds and shot 63.3% from the field in three wins for the Wolverines. He had 21 points, 15 caroms, two assists, two steals and four blocks in an eight-point victory over Washington, Md., then shot 69% from the field on the way to 19 points and 10 boards as the Wolverines were one of two CAC teams to beat top-ranked Va. Wesleyan last week.

Salisbury junior guard TIM HARWOOD (Rockville, Md./Magruder) was selected as the CAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 10, 2012 after leading the Gulls to a pair of victories, including an overtime decision over Frostburg State, and reaching the 20-point plateau in each outing. Harwood drained 58.3% of his shots, including 6-for-11 from long range, on the way to a career-high 26 points and six assists in a mid-week win at Goucher, then added 20 points, six rebounds and three helpers Saturday against FSU.

Frostburg State senior guard CHRISTIAN JACKSON was selected as the CAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 3, 2012 after averaging 30.5 points and 4.5 rebounds for four games for the Bobcats. Jackson shot at least 42% from the field and scored at least 27 points in all four games. Saturday, Jackson hit 11-of-19 shots (57%) on the way to 29 points in a CAC win at Mary Washington, then bounced back the next day with 37 points and five rebounds in a loss at second-ranked Va. Wesleyan.

Salisbury senior guard TRAVON VANN (Frederick, Md./St. John’s Prospect Hall) was selected as the CAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for Nov. 19, 2012 after averaging 24.7 points, 11.0 rebounds, 5.3 assists and shooting over 50% from the field in each game as the Sea Gulls jumped out to a 3-0 start, including a three-point win over the hosts at the Lycoming Tournament. Vann, the Tournament MVP, scored at least 22 points in all three games and finished the tournament title game with 30 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, three blocked shots and shot 75% from the field (12-for-16).
