
Marymount's Reed Scott, Wesley's David Langan and Salisbury's Tim Harwood Garner ECAC South All-Star Nods
A trio of CAC men's basketball players earned ECAC South All-Star recognition, announced Thursday. Marymount's Reed Scott and Wesley's David Langan received first team honors, while Salisbury's Tim Harwood landed on the second team.
Scott was also previously named First Team All-Capital Athletic Conference after leading the Saints to a 16-12 record, their most in a season since the 2001-02 campaign. He also helped the Blue and White to their first CAC Tournament bid since 2009-10 and a victory in the opening round of the ECAC South Tournament against Penn State Abington. He averaged 14.2 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 0.8 blocks and steals per game while shooting 51.1 percent from the floor, 39.1% from three-point range and 78.6% from the free throw line. He was second in the CAC in rebounding, fifth in blocks, sixth in field goal shooting and free throw shooting and seventh in scoring. For his career, Scott finished fifth at Marymount in scoring, second in rebounding, tied for third in blocks, eighth in field goal shooting and seventh in free throw shooting.
A senior center from Sayreville, N.J., Langan was also named a D3hoops.com third team All-American and the CAC Player of the Year. He led the CAC in rebounding (10.9), field goal percentage (62.6%), double-doubles (15) and blocks (1.9) while also ranking third with 16.8 points per game. Langan, who was also a two-time First Team All-Conference selection, will graduate as the program's all-time leader with 831 rebounds while ranking ninth in points (1,100), second in field goal percentage (57.5%) and third in blocks (124). Langan led the Wolverines (23-4) to their finest season in its history with its first-ever NCAA Tournament victory and a program-record 23 wins.
Harwood, a Rockville, Md., native led the Sea Gulls with 14.2 points per game, which was tied for the seventh-highest average in the CAC and for those efforts was named a second team ECAC all-star. Harwood hit on 47.5 percent of his three-pointers on the year to lead the squad. For his career, Harwood made 45.8 percent of his attempts for long range, which is tops among anyone to wear maroon and gold. The Magruder High School product connected on 88.1 percent of his free throw attempts over his career, putting him atop the all-time leaderboard. His 152 three-pointers made is tied for the sixth-most made all-time.
