Three Honored on D3hoops.com All-Region Men's Basketball Team

D3hoops.com All-Middle-Atlantic Region Team

Christopher Newport's Aaron McFarland and York's Dalton Myers were named to the D3hoops.com Middle Atlantic All-Region First Team while York head coach Matt Hunter and Mary Washington's Drew Johnson earned major awards, the organization announced on Tuesday. Hunter was selected as the Co-Coach of the Year, with Johnson collecting Rookie of the Year accolades.

Already selected as the NABC District Player of the Year and first team All-District last week, McFarland adds his first career D3hoops.com All-Region selection to his trophy case. McFarland put together a sensational senior season that saw him become the first player since 2012 to eclipse 500 points in a single season. Named the CAC Player of the Year after helping the Captains secure the league's regular season title, McFarland ranked second in the CAC in both scoring (17.9 ppg) and three-pointers (2.8 per game). He shot nearly 45% from the field and 39% from long range while posting one of the finest performances from the free-throw line all-time at CNU, knocking down 87.2% of his 125 attempts. The three-time All-Conference selection concluded his career as one of the all-time leading scorers in program history. He climbed to ninth on the all-time scoring list with 1,552 career points. Along the way he also set the program record for three-pointers in a career, with 266, and shattered the career free-throw shooting percentage mark, with an 85.8% clip from the line.

Myers has collected a number of post season honors after leading the Spartans to a stellar mark of 24-5 and the CAC Championship. Myers earned first-team All-CAC honors for the second time in his career. Myers also earned NABC first-team All-Middle Atlantic Region accolades on Monday afternoon. He finished the year averaging 17.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 0.8 blocked shots per game. He shot 54.7% from the floor, 39.6% from three and 76.3% from the free throw line. He scored in double figures in 25 of his 28 games, scored 20-plus points in 11 games and went over 30 points twice. Myers finished his career with 1,499 points in 104 games including 96 starts. He shot 53.7% from the field, 35.1% from three and 73.8% from the free throw line. Myers pulled down 522 rebounds, dished out 154 assists, blocked 92 shots and notched 41 steals.

Hunter continues to lead the resurgence of the Spartan program as York's 24 wins were the third highest total in school history. The Spartans have improved by seven wins in each of the last two seasons. York went from 10 wins in 2015-16 to 17 wins last year followed by this year's campaign. The Spartans are 41-15 over the last two seasons with a CAC regular season and tournament title.

Johnson, who also earned CAC Rookie of the Year honors, averaged 11.3 points and 4.7 rebounds per game for the Eagles this winter, and shot 45.8% from three point range.
