York's Dalton Myers Named Jostens Trophy Finalist

York College senior men's basketball forward Dalton Myers has been named as one of ten finalists for the 2018 Jostens Trophy. The Jostens Trophy is awarded to the outstanding NCAA Division III men’s and women’s basketball players who excel on the court, in the classroom, and in the community.  This season marks the 21st presentation of the awards, with the inaugural trophies bestowed in 1998.

Myers helped lead the Spartans to the the 2018 Capital Athletic Conference championship and heads into this weekend's NCAA Tournament with a mark of 23-4. Myers is the third Spartan to advance as a Jostens Trophy finalist, joining Brandon Bushey (2005-06) and Keli Ward (2008-09) in the elite group. 

Myers leads the Spartans in scoring with 17.5 points per game and also averages 4.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 0.3 steals per contest. He is shooting 55.4% from the floor, 42% from three-point range and 80% from the free throw line. 

Myers' name is all over the Spartan record book as he is ninth in school history in scoring with 1,451 points. He is also ranked seventh in career field goals (546), 14th in field goal attempts (1014), 11th in field goal percentage (.538), 10th in made free throws (293), 12th in free throw attempts (392), 15th in total rebounds (506), third in blocked shots (91), fourth in games started (94), and eighth in minutes played (3,019).

Myers has also excelled in this classroom in his time at York. He recently earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors and he carries a graduate GPA of 3.66 after graduating in May with his undergraduate degree in biology. Myers owned a undergrad GPA of 3.73 as he earned Dean's List honors seven times.

He is also active in his community service. He has spent many years along with his family, servicing his church and local community in assisting local families enjoy Christmas. Myers was active in helping prepare for the St. John's Church Christmas Bazaar, specifically preparing for "Angels Inc.", a program that helped raise funds for underserved families in his area. He has also served as a Special Olympics coach for the last three years. Myers is the men's basketball representative for the York College Student-Athlete Advisory Council. He is also a staple at York College men's basketball youth camps where he has served as a counselor, but more importantly, a role model for all campers who attend.

The 10 men's and 10 women's nominees will be voted on by a national committee and the winners will be notified on March 9. The winner will be presented with the award on Thursday, March 15 as part of the Men's Basketball Division III Final Four in Salem, Virginia.
