York and Christopher Newport Bow Out in NCAA Men's Basketball Second Round

York and Christopher Newport each saw their seasons come to a close on Saturday night with losses in the second round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. 

No. 11 York fell to No. 13 Hamilton 69-66 in York, Pa., ending the CAC-champion Spartans' season with a 24-5 record. Hamilton improves to 24-4 with the win and will take on Springfield (20-8) in next week's Sweet 16. 

Three York players reached double figures in the defeat, led by seniors Dalton Myers and Matt Scamuffo with 20 and 19 points apiece, respectively. Myers also tallied a game-high eight rebounds, while Scamuffo notched five boards and four three-pointers for the Spartans. Jared Wagner added 11 points, six assists, four rebounds and four steals. 

In Newport News, Va., Christopher Newport was defeated by visiting Franklin & Marshall 66-52. The Captains end the year with a 22-7 record following the loss. Aaron McFarland (11 points) and Savonte Chappell (10 points, six rebounds) led the way for the Captains. F&M (22-6) will meet Ramapo (23-6) in the Sweet 16.
