FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- St. Mary's junior forward Spencer Schultz earned his second straight Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week honor for Jan. 2, 2019.

Spencer Schultz paced St. Mary's in a 2-0 week as the Seahawks extended their win streak to four straight. Schultz opened up the week with a career-best 30 points on 13-of-16 shooting in the win over Greensboro. He has scored in double digits in eight consecutive games. Schultz then tallied 10 rebounds and a career-high 5 blocks in the victory over William Peace. He currently leads the conference in scoring while ranking third in both field goal percentage and rebounding. For the week, Schultz averaged 21.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game while shooting 75 percent from the field.

NOTES AROUND THE CONFERENCE

Salisbury's Mike Ward scored at least 20 points in all three of Salisbury's games, two of which were victories. In Salisbury's lone loss on the year, Ward scored a career-high 29 points at Rowan on December 22. He followed that with performances of 22 and 20 points at the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame Tournament, which Salisbury won. Ward came off the bench in all three games, leading the team in scoring in all three. For his efforts in the tournament at Springfield, including a win against No. 16 Nichols, Ward was named to the All-Tournament Team...Christopher Newport's Jason Aigner was selected Crowne Plaza Captains Shootout MVP after CNU capped a 2-0 week with a victory over Huntingdon College. Aigner posted a career-high 25 points over Mount Mt. Mary's in the first contest....In three games over the holiday break, Mary Washington freshman Greg Rowson led the Eagles with 16.7 PPG, as UMW won two of three games to move to 8-3 overall. He scored 13 points with five rebounds in an 80-74 win at Shenandoah, and followed by making the all-tournament team at the Cregger Invitational at Roanoke by scoring 15 with eight rebounds in a win over John Carroll and adding 22 points and four boards in an 83-67 loss at Roanoke...Frostburg State's Daniel Alexander averaged 17.7 points as the Bobcats posted a 1-2 record over the break...Southern Virginia's Jamier Cross led the Knights in a pair of defeats averaging 16.5 points and 5.5 rebounds...
