YORK Pa. --  The York College men's basketball team was recognized by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) on Tuesday afternoon. The Spartans were named the NABC Division III Team of the Week after picking up a pair of big wins this past week.

The Spartans started the week with a dominating 87-75 win over Frostburg State on Wednesday evening. The Spartans shot 52.4% in the win including building the lead to 28 points in the first half. Senior Jason Bady led the way with 15 points and eight rebounds. Jared Wagner and Mike Frauenheim each added 14 points. Wagner also had six rebounds, five assists, four steals and a blocked shot. Sophomore David Giuliani registered a career-high 10 points in the victory.

On Saturday, the Spartans upended the #15 Christopher Newport Captains 82-81 as Wagner hit a driving layup with 4.9 seconds left, erasing a 13-point deficit. Bady and Wagner were outstanding in the win. Bady poured in 30 points and grabbed eight boards while Wagner tallied 28 points, grabbed six rebounds, had four steals and two assists. Junior Joey Polczynski pulled in a career-high 11 rebounds.

Spartan head coach Matt Hunter was happy to have his team recognized by the NABC but understands it's a very small portion of the season.

"It was a great week for our team," said Hunter. "It is an honor to have the NABC select us for this weekly award. However, we are focused on getting better each day as we head down the home stretch of the season."

The Spartans conclude a season-high three game home stand on Wednesday night when they host Penn State Harrisburg at 8:00 pm. The Spartans have six regular season games left before the Capital Athletic Conference tournament starts on February 19.
